Who we are
ZapnGlow™ is operated by Customer Experience Insight Pty Ltd (ABN 61 634 039 759). This notice explains how the lab handles information on a shared kiosk. We use the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles as our standard of practice. In Western Australia, the Surveillance Devices Act 1998 restricts recording of private conversations. Use voice only for spoken game commands, not to capture other people’s private talk.
What we collect
We collect only what the game needs. There are no accounts and no advertising trackers. Voice is off until someone agrees on this device.
Voice clip
Purpose. Turn speech into a robot command
Stored. Not stored by ZapnGlow™. Our AI service providers say they keep requests for up to 30 days to detect misuse, then delete them, unless the law requires longer. They say they do not use this data to train their models without permission.
Shared. Our speech service provider in the United States, over HTTPS. If our service is off, your browser’s own speech recognition instead.
Command text
Purpose. Parse a lab command
Stored. Not stored by ZapnGlow™ after the turn. If sent to a provider, the same 30-day misuse check may apply.
Shared. Our language service provider, only when the game cannot parse the command itself. This applies to typed and spoken commands, with or without voice consent. Other typed commands stay on this device.
Connection details
Purpose. Deliver and secure the website
Stored. Short-term request logs kept by our hosting provider. To limit how often speech, AI replies, robot voices and lab board scores can be used, a scrambled code made from your IP address (not the address itself) is kept in our database for up to 10 minutes after your last request.
Shared. Our website hosting provider and website builder platform, both in the United States
Team name on the lab board
Purpose. Show a score on this kiosk
Stored. This browser only
Shared. Not sent off this device
Microphone labels
Purpose. Remember which microphone the lab uses on this kiosk
Stored. This browser only
Shared. Not sent off this device
Voice consent
Purpose. Record that voice use was accepted on this device
Stored. This browser only
Shared. Not sent off this device
Voice and listening devices
The microphone is not always on. It listens only while a mission is running. Playing alone, one microphone listens for you. In a two-player mission, either one shared microphone listens for both players — say the robot's name first, like “Zap, go left” — or two separate microphones are used, one for each player. With one microphone, the browser’s own speech recognition does the listening, for the whole mission, then it stops; it turns speech into words as they are said, so the robots answer quickly. With two separate microphones, or in a browser without speech recognition, a clip is sent to our speech service only when the lab hears speech. It is not listening on the title screen. Before the first clip, this kiosk asks for agreement. A teacher, parent, or guardian should agree on behalf of primary-school players. You may decline and type instead. Do not use voice to capture private conversations of people who have not agreed. In a public exhibit, spoken game commands are not treated as a private conversation, but nearby private talk still is.
Overseas disclosure
Some service providers that help run the lab are overseas. We describe them by what they do. The speech providers get a short audio clip over HTTPS, only if you agree to voice. When the game cannot parse a command itself, the command text, typed or spoken, goes to the language provider. Typed play does not send a recording. The hosting and builder providers get connection details whenever a page loads.
Speech and language service provider
Turns a voice clip into text, reads a command the game cannot parse itself, and speaks the robots’ lines.
Receives. The voice clip, the command text, and the robot’s reply.
Location. United States for speech to text. Other requests may be processed in other countries.
Backup speech and language service provider
Does the same jobs only when the main provider is unavailable.
Receives. The same as the main provider, for that request only.
Location. United States
Your browser’s speech recognition
The main listener when a mission uses one mic, so the robots answer as you speak. The browser turns speech into text during a Test mic, or for the whole of that mission.
Receives. Audio from the microphone while it listens. Your browser maker handles it under its own privacy terms.
Location. Depends on the browser maker, often the United States
Website hosting provider
Serves the website, runs the server that passes requests to the speech service, and relays requests to the backup speech and language provider.
Receives. Your IP address and basic request details, kept briefly for running and securing the site. When the backup is used, the same clip or text the backup receives.
Location. United States, with pages delivered from a worldwide network
Website builder platform
Loads a small script on each page that supports the tools the site was built with.
Receives. Your IP address and basic browser details when the script loads.
Location. United States
ZapnGlow™ does not keep recordings. Our AI service providers say they keep requests for up to 30 days to detect misuse, then delete them, unless the law requires longer. They say they do not use this data to train their models without permission. Before we use a provider, we check its published data-handling terms. We send only what each request needs, and we do not send names, schools or contact details. Under APP 8 we remain accountable for how our providers handle this information. Ask us if you want more detail about a provider.
Storage and security
Clips travel in transit with HTTPS. ZapnGlow™ does not write recordings to a database. Team names, mic labels and this consent stay in this browser. That store is not locked. Anyone with access to this kiosk can see the lab board. Do not type a full legal name, school or contact details.
Children
The lab is made for junior scientists of primary-school age (about 5 to 12) on a supervised exhibit. We do not try to identify a child. Prefer a team nickname. A carer should stay with the players when voice is on. The Children’s Online Privacy Code is due to be registered by 10 December 2026; this notice will be reviewed when that Code takes effect.
Access, correction and deletion
Because scores live on this device, you can clear them here. This cannot erase a clip already sent for the last command. This kiosk currently is being checked.
